A letter to Governor Holcomb 3/23/2020

Governor Eric Holcomb, Below is from a good friend of mine, who is also an active scholar.

Over the course of the past few days, I’ve personally seen the government officials declaring that our LIBERTY and PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS should be taken away in order to save our LIFE.

Ironically our nation was founded based off the reciprocal type of logic. We the people have given up our own lives repeatedly in order to secure our FREEDOMS: our Right of speech, our Right of the people to bear arms, our Right of the people to peaceably assemble together, etc.

How many lives have we lost since 1776 in order to KEEP these liberties together? How many people have died to secure our foundations of freedom?

Remember how our fathers wrote:

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.–That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, –That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.”

Let’s not let our FREEDOM get taken away too easily. Remember that it’s the “consent of the governed” and not the reciprocal process.
