Writing business documents and press releases

There are two primary schools of thought when it comes to document style. Chicago and AP.

Since most legal documents are apparently mostly compatible with the Chicago I end up using that for my own work.

However, most press work seems to fall under the AP style guide. AP even has an app called StyleGuard.

If you are curious about some of the variances, I will list a couple.

  • Crosses the boundary between technical writing skills and soft issue definitions.
  • Helps promote AP style thought police.
    • [I will admit that this last one was commentary, but they really did get into it when they covered a lot of liberal issue commentary bs.]
Don’t use the AP.
